Description
The 2017 SEGD Global Design Awards, the only international awards program focused on user experiences in the built environment, is now open for entries. Since 1987, the SEGD Global Design Awards have set the standard of excellence for environmental graphic design and experiential graphic design, honoring design work that connects people to place by providing direction, content and compelling experiences in public spaces.The seven entry categories reflect the core practice areas of experiential graphic design: digital experience content, exhibition, interactive experiences, placemaking and identity, public installation, strategy/research/planning, and wayfinding. Honor and Merit design award winners will be selected from submissions in each of the seven categories. The jurors will also choose a Best of Show Award from the top entries.

Christina Lyons

Christina Lyons is Chairperson and an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Exhibition Design Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology/SUNY in New York.

Keith Helmetag
As one of the founders of C&G Partners, Keith Helmetag offers creative direction to a talented team involved in signage and wayfinding as well as exhibit and experience design commissions.
Currently, Keith Helmetag is working on digital and analog communication graphics for the U.S. State Department’s new American Embassy in London; Oceanwide Center in San Francisco; San Diego History Center, Goldendale Observatory in Washington State and Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA.

Kristine Matthews
Kristine Matthews is also Associate Professor of Design and Chair of the Visual Communication Design program at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dovetailing professional practice with education, her advanced exhibition design course creates cutting-edge design in the environment with a focus on audience engagement and sustainability.

Michael Freimuth
Michael Freimuth is the co-founder and creative director of Franklyn, a boutique creative and technology firm based in Brooklyn. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Michael is an award-winning creative director whose work has been recognized by myriad industry organizations including the AIGA, Art Directors Club, the Society of Publication Designers, Print and Communication Arts magazines.

Patrick Blanchard is an environmental graphic design intern at HOK. He received a Bachelors of Fine Art, Graphic Design at the University of Kansas. He also serves as a Jayhawk Inc Clerk at the KU Memorial Unions. His previous work includes a position as a communications coordinator at The Center for Community Outreach, Student Assistant, orientation coordinator, and resident assistant at Kansas University.

Rachel Einsidler
Rachel Einsidler is a Senior Designer and Associate at Airspace with experience in experiential graphic design, exhibit design, identity and print design. She has been directly involved in the conceptualization, design, and management of projects for a wide range of public and private organizations, including Sony USA, Time Inc., New York University, and Jamestown Properties.

Udo Schliemann
Udo Schliemann brings over 30 years of experience to Entro, specializing in identity development, environmental branding, and signage and wayfinding design. Udo’s unique approach to design problems, fostered by the mentorship of renowned German artist Anton Stankowski, combines artistic and poetic sensibilities to create powerful designs, which elevate the everyday experience. In Toronto, Udo is an actively involved member of the Design Exchange.
