The World Photography Organisation is a global platform for photography initiatives. Working across up to 180 countries, our aim is to raise the level of conversation around photography by celebrating the best imagery and photographers on the planet. We pride ourselves on building lasting relationships with both individual photographers as well as our industry-leading partners around the world.

Description

The free to enter 2018 Sony World Photography Awards is now open for entries. The 11th edition of the Awards will provide more opportunities than ever before to win prizes and get your work seen on a global stage. 

With a new Sony grant, monthly prizes and new Professional categories, this is your best chance yet of showcasing your photography and taking your career to the next level. We work closely with winning, shortlisted and commended photographers throughout the year to ensure maximum exposure and recognition. 

All category winners of the Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus competitions will receive cutting edge digital imaging equipment from Sony. Cash prizes of $25k will be presented to the Photographer of the Year and $5k to the Open Photographer of the Year.

February 27, 2018 – Shortlist announced
March 27, 2018 – Open and National Awards winners revealed

Zelda Cheatle
Based in the UK, Zelda Cheatle is renowned for her pioneering work in establishing photography as art, through her extensive work as a highly sought after curator, lecturer, editor and consultant.
Aida Muluneh
Born in Ethiopia in 1974, Aïda left the country at a young age and spent her childhood between Yemen and England. After several years in a boarding school in Cyprus, she finally settled in Canada in 1985.
Allegra Cordero di Montezemolo
Allegra Cordero di Montezemolo is curator and head of exhibitions at the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City. She received her BA in film and television at Centro University in Mexico City in 2008, and worked in film and commercial production assisting film luminaries such as screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière.
Denis Curti
Denis Curti is a curator and journalist, and the Director of the monthly magazine IL FOTOGRAFO. He is The founder and supervisor of the post university Master “Photography and visual design”, developed in collaboration with NABA and Fondazione FORMA.
Russ O'Connell
Russ O’Connell is Picture Editor of The Sunday Times Magazine, his latest step in a 14-year career within the photographic and magazine publishing Industry.
Francoise Callier
Born in Ghent – Belgium, Francoise has lived in Paris since 1983. She is currently the Program Director at Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops. She also curates for various festivals that help emerging Asian photographers and others show their work around the world.
Damien Demolder
Damien is a photographer, journalist and photographic equipment expert, speaker, judge and educator. He has worked in the photographic publishing industry for 19 years, including 15 years at the world’s only weekly photo magazine, Amateur Photographer, where he was editor. He writes and tests for dpreview.com, British Journal of Photography, Amateur Photographer and a range of other UK and international publications.
Andrea Kurland
Andrea Kurland is Editor-in-Chief of Huck, a premium print magazine, website and film channel that celebrates independent culture. Inspired by DIY principles, Huck roams the globe to document grassroots counterculture through original storytelling that champions the documentary form.
Dan Rubin
Dan is a designer, photographer, and creative director based in London. Co-founder of both The Photographic Journal and webgraph, a design studio, and host of the Apple Event series Meet The iPhone Photographer, Dan speaks at conferences worldwide including An Event Apart, South by Southwest, UX London, and consults for startups and established brands around the world.
Jennifer Shaw
Jennifer Shaw is the founder and creative director of PhotoNOLA, New Orleans’ annual photography festival. The festival showcases works from local and international artists, and is coordinated by the New Orleans Photo Alliance (NOPA) in partnership with museums and galleries citywide.
