NANJING INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF POSTERS FOR PEACE
History is humanity’s shared river of memory, while peace is the eternal pursuit of civilization. In today’s era of globalization, we understand more than ever that peace is not merely an accidental gift of history but a deliberate choice of human reason. It is not a temporary ceasefire but rather a fundamental guarantee for the continuation of civilization. Every page written in history lays the foundation for a peaceful future. Every act of peace imbues history with new meaning.
Nanjing is a city steeped in a millennium of cultural heritage, embodying the spirit of peace. It has withstood the ravages of war while embracing the dawn of hope. From the rain-soaked eras of the Six Dynasties to the traumas of modern times and from painful memories to heartfelt declarations of peace, Nanjing embodies the profound philosophy of “learning from the past to warn future generations.”The Nanjing International Biennial of Posters for Peace takes root here, using visuals to transform historical inspirations into a language for the future. Posters are more than just narratives of images; they relay civilization, capturing fragments of memory and reflecting the light of truth. They transcend the boundaries of time and space, weaving a shared ideal.
History is not a static inscription but a flowing river. Its value lies not only in preserving the past, but also in inspiring new beginnings. This year’s biennial, themed “History Illuminates the Future,” invites global creators from around the world to explore the dialogue between past and future through the power of imagery, collectively “designing for peace.” Through the medium of posters, we aim to commemorate the invaluable lessons of history and articulate a vision of peace. These artworks highlight the cultural and artistic power that drives the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
Design for Peace, Act for the Future.
