Aesthetica is a bi-monthly magazine and a leading publication for art, design and photography. Aesthetica engages with the arts both in the UK and internationally, combining dynamic content with compelling critical debate and exploring the best in contemporary art and visual culture.
Description
Hosted by Aesthetica Magazine, the Aesthetica Art Prize is a celebration of excellence in art from across the world. It offers both emerging and established artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wider audience, and further their engagement with the international art world. The Judging Panel enhances its position in the industry, bringing together specialists from leading cultural institutions.Two awards are available for entry: the Main Art Prize, open to all practitioners, and the Emerging Art Prize, open to current students and artists who have graduated within the last two years. Both awards include prize money, a group exhibition hosted by Aesthetica and editorial coverage in Aesthetica Magazine. Further details can be found on the official website.
The submission categories for 2018 are:
- Photographic & Digital Art;
- Three Dimensional Design & Sculpture;
- Painting, Drawing & Mixed Media
- Video, Installation & Performance.
Previous finalists include John Keane, former official British war artist, currently represented by Flowers Gallery in London; Julia Vogl, member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and twice selected for Public Art Network Year in Review projects; Ingrid Hu, former designer at the Lubetkin-winning Heatherwick Studio; Marcus Jansen, a leading modern expressionist; and Bernat Millet, shortlisted for National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize.

The Emerging Art Prize is open to current students and artists who have graduated within the last two years. The Main Art Prize is open to all, including those eligible for the Emerging Art Prize.
