The mission of Embracing Our Differences® is to use the arts as a catalyst for creating awareness and promoting, throughout our community, the value of diversity, the benefits of inclusion and the significance of the active rejection of hatred and prejudice.
Description
Artists, photographers, professionals, amateurs, students are all invited to submit their interpretation of the theme “enriching lives through diversity”.
A total of $3,000 (US) will be presented in the form of three separate awards – $1,000 each for “Best-in-Show Adult;” “Best-in-Show Student;” and the “People’s Choice.” Both “Best-in-Show” awards will be granted by a three-judge panel of art professionals. The “People’s Choice” award will be determined by visitors to the exhibit.
Embracing Our Differences’ annual international outdoor juried art exhibition features billboard-size images and is displayed during April and May each year in Island Park along Sarasota’s bayfront in Southwest Florida.
Last year, the competition received more than 11,791 individual entries from 111 countries and 44 states.
Since 2004 the Embracing Our Differences exhibition has hosted over 2,700,000 visitors plus another 240,000+ students for a very unique opportunity to experience the importance of diversity in our lives.
