West Kowloon Cultural District is located at the Yau Tsim Mong District and is bounded by Canton road in the east, the Western Harbour Crossing entrance and Austin Road in the north and Victoria Harbour in the west and south.
Description
A new competition to design a temporary pavilion for the West Kowloon Cultural DistrictTo inspire innovation and help nurture new architectural and design talent in Hong Kong, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority has launched the Hong Kong Young Architects & Designers Competition – a new competition to design an iconic Temporary Pavilion in the West Kowloon Nursery Park. The winning pavilion will be built on a waterfront location that offers spectacular harbour and sunset views, and the selected design should offer an inviting, informal public space to enhance visitor experience while also providing an informal space for talks, workshops and small performances.
This competition offers an invaluable opportunity for Hong Kong residents currently studying Architecture, Design or a related discipline, as well as those who have graduated in the last 10 years, to showcase their talent and see their design through to reality with the full support of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority.
The competition will be judged by a panel of highly respected local and international experts that includes Thomas Heatherwick, James Corner and Sou Fujimoto.
Three short-listed entries will be selected for further design development, with the winner as selected by our judging panel being taken forward and constructed in the Nursery Park.
By promoting the work of emerging young local talent, and design that is exciting, accessible and sustainable, we plan to create a model for an annual competition that can raise the international profile of Hong
