gURROO hosts an annual international design competition (Innovative Minds Design Competition) in an effort to become a catalyst for creative thinking while rewarding designers for their ideas. The competition focuses on the blending of physical and virtual architecture and how innovative minds can address societal issues. A portion of the proceeds go to support organizations that influence technological strides in the design community.
Description
Innovative Minds 2018: Regenesis is an explorationSome disasters occur on a macro scale and others on a micro scale, but both have significant impacts on a community. Explore local, site-specific solutions informed by virtual processes and also how these solutions could potentially impact the global community.
Enhance our world by instilling a regenesis with virtual and physical architecture.
Any site may be chosen for the design competition.This project may be designed on any scale; micro to macro.The relationship between the chosen site and the architectural design must be clearly articulated.
Project files must be submitted electronically by June 1, 2018 and include:
- A text file (.doc) containing team member names, school or firm if necessary and the location of the individual/team (country, city, state).
- Project Statement in 300 words or less (.doc) file format. English is the official language of the competition.
- Two (2) horizontal boards, 24″ x 36″ 300 dpi in PDF format (.pdf).
- Diagrams describing how the project addresses the competition challenge statement.
- Renderings evoking an emotive quality using unique techniques.
- Section, elevation and plan drawings.
- Descriptive text must be clearly legible on boards and readable without extensive zoom.
- note: Project Statement does not need to be located on presentation boards.
- Registration number located clearly in the upper right corner of both boards.
- English is the official language of the competition.
Jury
A qualified judging panel of 3-5 persons evaluate the projects submitted. All judges of past Innovative Minds competitions work in the architecture profession.
Rewards
First Place Winner
$1 000The first place project will receive a monetary prize and be published on the gURROO website for an extended period of time.
Second Place
$200The second place project will receive a monetary prize and be published on the gURROO website for an extended period of time.
Third Place
$100The third place project will receive a monetary prize and be published on the gURROO website for an extended period of time.
Honorable Mention
A select number of projects will be published on gURROO website.Timeline
