Next Generation Energy and Transportation Solutions
The 2018 edition of KPIT Sparkle comes up with an exciting theme which would allow the students to explore new technology trends in the field of energy and transportation. It emphasizes on Next Generation Energy & Transportation Solutions
When we envision the Next Generation Energy and Transportation solutions, there are some basic requirements which depending on the current scenario of evolution should find place in the proposed solutions as pillars of thought.
Green Technology: One of the most important ingredient for solutions being proposed, we cannot overlook the climate change which is affecting our environment. We as humans, evolved to an extent where we are dependent on the resources Earth provides us, resulting in their depletion. We invite pioneers in innovating newer techniques which would be in light of renewable energy resources.
Safety: Safety for the Vehicle and for the Passenger is an important aspect of the Transportation solutions which would reduce accidents, make communications secure between vehicles and infrastructure. Machines could take over critical areas where human error may affect safety adversely.
Convenience: The next generation transportation would be most convenient to use for an end user, it would seamlessly connect different modes of transport as well as use data analytics to map behavior of end user. This data would allow the optimization of vehicles and public transport systems on the whole.
The below leavers fall into the most sought after research areas which can pave way to innovation for the above pillars of thought.
Artificial Intelligence has been an area which has thrilled many a technology enthusiasts for decades. With the recent advent of machine learning resources like Tensor Flow, Caffe, Torch, etc. opened up by leaders like Google, Stanford University and high-end computing platforms like GPUs, FPGAs, has given a big boost to the AI technologies to be used for development of Autonomous Vehicles, the future of automobiles. This is undoubtedly the most sought after area of innovation in present times.
With Software and Connected Vehicles (V2V, V2I) influencing next generation transportation solutions, secure behavior of the vehicles and safety of passengers for vulnerability against cyber-attacks is demanding a lot of attention from technologists and thus is a huge opportunity for innovation.
Lastly, Nano technologies are driving the advent of new and advanced materials, especially for energy storage devices like batteries, solar panels, etc., which is an important area of research, to develop next generation energy efficient transportation solutions.
These three distinct areas of research are transforming the energy and transportation sector and we would like to invite bright and young minds within the country to innovate and present their ideas in these areas through an innovation platform like KPIT Sparkle.
