Description

THE QUARTIER DES SPECTACLES PARTNERSHIP INVITES ARTISTS, CREATORS AND DESIGNERS TO SUBMIT THEIR PROPOSALS TO THE LUMINOTHÉRAPIE 2018-2019 COMPETITION.

The aim of this multidisciplinary competition is to enhance the public space and bring it to life with a participatory work and architectural video projections on the theme of “encounters”. Drawing inspiration from the theme, multidisciplinary teams of up-and-coming or experienced designers should design an auditory, luminous and participatory work for the Place des Festivals that creates a sense of wonder both day and night as well as video projections for the two adjacent building façades. For this ninth edition, the work must encourage the public’s active participation, inviting people to move, meet, talk and have a shared experience.

From November 29, 2018 to January 27, 2019, Montrealers and visitors will be invited to enjoy Montreal’s winter in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles by exploring the bold, immersive work presented for Luminothérapie.

THE COMPETITION

The deadline to register is August 21, 2017 at noon.
Proposals must be submitted no later than noon, Montreal time, on August 30, 2017. There is no registration fee.

The call for proposals for Luminothérapie is Quebec’s largest competition for temporary public art installations. The goal of this multidisciplinary competition is to produce an original winter-themed participatory experience in the Quartier des Spectacles and to stimulate creativity in the field of temporary public art installation activated by digital.

Rewards

CREATORS MAKE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES

In recent years, several designers and artists have won awards after creating works for Luminothérapie, namely Lüz studio (Fascinoscope 2014-2015), Champagne Club Sandwich (Trouve Bob 2014-13), KANVA (Entre les rangs 2013-14) and Lucion Média (Sphères polaires 2010-11). Luminothérapie also generates considerable interest outside Quebec.

In addition to substantial media coverage, some works have been well-received abroad, including Trouve Bob in Moscow and Iceberg (2012-13) by ATOMIC3 and Appareil Architecture in Brussels.
