Creo initiates and organises events and programming across three key strands: photography, film and contemporary art. Established in 2007 as World Photography Organisation, Creo has since grown in scope, furthering its mission of developing meaningful opportunities for creatives and expanding the reach of its cultural activities. Today, its flagship projects include the Sony World Photography Awards, PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, Photo London and the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards.

Description

The Professional competition – closes 12th January 2024, at 13:00 (GMT) – rewards exceptional series of work across 10 categories, both for technical skill and an original approach to storytelling. Photographers can enter all 10 categories (each submitted series must be different) for free. Photographer of the Year wins $25,000, a solo show at Somerset House to coincide with the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition the following year, plus a range of top Sony digital kit and global exposure. The Open competition – closes 5th January 2024, at 13:00 (GMT) – welcomes photographers, both established and emerging, to submit their striking single images across 10 distinct categories. Photographers can enter up to three standalone images for free. Open Photographer of the Year wins $5,000, a range of Sony digital kit plus global exposure. The Student competition – closes 30th November, 2023, at 13:00 (GMT) – provides a platform for photography students worldwide. Designed to challenge students undertaking top degrees / courses at institutions across the globe, the 2024 brief asks students to respond to the theme Home through five to 10 images. Student Photographer of the Year and their university/ institution is awarded a combined total of €30,000 of Sony digital imaging kit and global exposure.

Open to under 19 year-olds, the Youth competition celebrates the photographers of tomorrow. Budding photographers can enter up to three images that interpret the brief ‘Through Your Eyes’ for free. Youth Photographer of the Year is awarded Sony digital imaging kit, global exposure and
