ABOUT US

IECOM is an international industrial engineering competition designed for undergraduate students majoring in Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, or other related fields, held by Industrial Engineering Student Union of Bandung Institute of Technology. Held for the first time in 2005, IECOM has become a prestigious competition in Indonesia. On the 7th to the 13th of January 2018, IECOM will be held for the 8th time in Bandung Institute of Technology, Ganesha Campus, Jalan Ganesha No. 10, Bandung, West Java. Our target participants are Asia Pacific students studying Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management, and other related fields.

THIS YEAR'S THEME: RAPID MANUFACTURING

The competition team of IECOM 2018 is Rapid Manufacturing: Rising Trend of Digitization in the Manufacturing Industry. Rapid Manufacturing is developed from the technology known as rapid protoyping. According to Hague and Dickens (2006), rapid manufacturing is defined as, “the use of a computer aided design (CAD)-based automated additive manufacturing process to construct parts that are used directly as finished products or components”.

Rapid Manufacturing is mainly identified as the use of computer aided design (CAD)-based automated additive manufacturing process for production. It is part of a larger breakthrough: Industry 4.0, which is known as the fourth Industrial Revolution currently taking place around the globe. “Industry 4.0” refers to the 4th world’s Industrial Revolution that is currently happening. It is identified as the ongoing trend of automation and data exchanges in the manufacturing industry, including the development of cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing. In Indonesia, Industry 4.0 is also widely talked, with the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) currently raising awareness of the issue by bringing it up on World Economic Forum 2017 in Cambodia and conducting Industry 4.0 nation-wide workshop last April.
