The work entered must be created in pencil (including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or coloured pencils). The work must not exceed 182cms in its greatest dimension. There is no minimum size limit. The Prize is open to both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works. All entered work must have been completed within the last 3 years. The work selected for exhibition must be available from 1st September 2018 – 31st January 2019.

Description

The Derwent Art Prize aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best 2D & 3D artworks created in created with any pencil or coloured pencil as well as water soluble, pastel, graphite and charcoal by British and International artists.

THE DERWENT ART PRIZE

Derwent, internationally renowned pencil manufacturers, are proud to announce that the fourth instalment of the Derwent Art Prize is now open for entries.
The Derwent Art Prize was conceived in 2012 and aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best artworks created in pencil by British and International artists.
From the submitted artworks, approximately eighty will be selected for display at the Mall Galleries in central London. Alongside the chosen artworks being hung in a public display, prizes totalling over £12,250 will be awarded in an awards ceremony on the opening night of the exhibition.
Since the Derwent Art Prize began, the competition has attracted more than 5000 entries from over 70 countries worldwide.
Derwent are excited to see both domestic and international entries for this Derwent Art Prize.

THE EXHIBITION

Selected works will be on display from 18th – 23rd September 2018.
The exhibition will then tour to a number of venues throughout the UK. Full details will be announced shortly. The work selected for exhibition must be available until 31st January 2019.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Artists are invited to submit up to 6 images. The selectors are aware that some work may not lend itself to reproduction and wish to reassure artists that there may be opportunities to view actual works.
Artists can enter online. If artists are unable to enter online please contact derwent@parkerharris.co.uk for further details.

A non-refundable application fee
Following the selection process, all artists will be notified by 4th June 2018. Artists who have not heard by this date should contact Parker Harris, organisers of The Derwent Art Prize at derwent@parkerharris.co.uk, call + 44 (0) 1372 462190 or check the website for further details.
From the open submission applications the panel will select approximately 80 works for exhibition. The artists selected for the final exhibition will be contacted by Parker Harris with full delivery details for their work.

ENTRY FEES

The entry fee is £15 for the first work and £5 for additional works. Artists may only enter once, with a maximum of 6 images.
