Description
The Kering Foundation and MakeSense team to support social entrepreneurs addressing violence against women.- THE AWARD -
The Kering Foundation Awards, in partnership with MakeSense, supports innovative social entrepreneurs addressing violence against women in five countries* scale their business: France, Italy, Mexico, the UK and the US.
Depending on the eligibility and quality of the applications, a maximum of five winners will be selected–one per country. The top two selected projects will receive a grant of €10,000 and three projects will receive €5,000. In addition, each of the five winners will benefit from a 6-month acceleration program through the MakeSense incubators network.
Winners will also receive 2 years mentoring support from Kering Group employees.
Who can apply
Any social enterprise that benefits one or both of the following areas is eligible to apply:
- Women affected by violence (i.e. domestic violence, sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, trafficking, etc.)
- Women at risk of violence (i.e. migrant women, minority women, etc.)
Entrepreneurs must be located and operating in one of the following countries – France, Italy, Mexico, the UK or the US. All legal entities are welcome as long as they meet the below criteria. Businesses must create social impact/value by:
- Preventing or responding to violence against women through service provision
- Empowering/protecting women affected by or at risk of violence
- Applying sustainable economic/business model
- Reinvesting profit to achieve social impact
- Involving entrepreneurs and co-founders on a full-time basis
Projects that include the role of men in combatting violence against women will also be considered.
