THE ANTIPODES: New Zealand Nature Retreat: Set in the extreme isolation of Antipodes Island, New Zealand, this competition invites architects and designers to explore architectural duality by designing a nature retreat in one of the world’s most remote locations. Participants are challenged to create a sustainable, off-grid structure that harmonizes with the island’s harsh climate, fragile ecosystem, and rich biodiversity – a space for rest, research, or reflection.

Warming Huts V.2026: Three teams will be selected as winners of the WARMING HUTS COMPETITION: Arts + Architecture Competition on Ice from submissions of designs for a warming hut installation. Winning entries will be placed along the Nestaweya River Trail located on the Assiniboine and Red rivers in Winnipeg, Manitoba. A jury will select the winning designs based on their creativity in use of materials, providing shelter, poetics of assembly and form, integration with the landscape, and ease of construction.
