The German Design Council was founded as a foundation in 1953 by decree of the German Federal Parliament at the initiative of the German Parliament. It supports the business world in all aspects of design and is one of the world’s leading centers of expertise on design. The German Design Council repeatedly champions good design through its competitions, exhibitions, conferences, seminars and publications.

The Iconic Awards 2017:
The Iconic Awards honor superb examples of the interaction of all disciplines in an independent architecture and design competition which focuses on internationally outstanding construction projects, innovative interior and product design as well as compelling communication in an architectural context.
This year, special attention will be paid to the next generation and young architectural studios.

Ein&zwanzig competition 2018:
The international ein&zwanzig competition is aimed at you! Design students and graduates! Talents and newcomers! Join us with innovative products and product ideas in the interior design and lifestyle sector.Participation in the competition is free. Twenty-one products and product ideas will be honoured with awards and exhibited during the Tortona Design Week in Milan. As well as offering financial support for transport and travel, the German Design Council will support and promote the winners.
