A Smith Gallery

Animalia: Animalia: fauna, beasts, birds, zoological, mammals, wildlife, amphibians, creatures, reptiles, fish, insects, critters … Photographers retain full rights to their own images. The gallery will use the photographer’s images for publicity purposes as well as in the Blurb exhibition catalogue. The gallery will retain 40% of the sales price.

The photographic performance 2017: Do you have a body of work or a concept for an exhibition that is photography or photography based? We are looking for compelling solo or cooperative exhibitions to fill our interior salon space. It can be only photographic images, photography combined with mixed media, photography as sculpture, photography based installations or… We are hoping you can show us what it can be. Creativity is encouraged.

Response: response: reply, antiphon, retort, comeback, riposte, rejoinder …… How do we respond? Many of us respond with anger. Many of us respond with disbelief. Many of us respond with indifference. Many of us respond with our cameras.

Photographic call for submissions "still life": still life : an arrangement of ordinary objects of contrasting textures. Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "still life" to A Smith Gallery by April 2, 2018. Juror for "still life" will be Kate Breakey, fine art photographer and educator.

Photographic call for submissions "Chair": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "chair" to A Smith Gallery by January 8, 2018. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the main gallery from February 16 to March 25, 2018. $825 in awards. Juror for "chair" will be S Gayle Stevens, award winning fine art photographer and instructor.

Photographic call for submissions "portraits": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "portraits" to A Smith Gallery by February 12, 2018. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown in the main gallery from March 30 to May 13, 2018. The entry fee is $35 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image. Juror for "portraits" will be Alyssa Coppelman, photo editor, picture researcher and portfolio consultant.

unique: alternative processes 2018: Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "unique: alternative processes 2018 " to A Smith Gallery by July 23, 2018. Any unique handmade print made with historical printing processes are eligible with the exception of silver gelatin. Thirty to thirty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown at the gallery from September 7 to November 18, 2018. Diana Bloomfield is the juror.

Photographic call "the photographic performance 2018": Photographers are invited to submit work for the exhibitions “The Photographic Performance 2018” to A Smith Gallery by March 16, 2018. We are looking for compelling solo or cooperative exhibitions to fill our interior salon space. The entry fee is $50 for 10 to 20 images and also requires a written proposal or artist statement explaining the exhibition. Jurors are Amanda Smith and Kevin Tully, gallery directors.

Photographic call for submissions "interior": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "interiors" to A Smith Gallery by August 20, 2018. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected for exhibition and shown at the gallery from October 5 to November 18, 2018. Elizbeth Avedon will be the juror for "interiors".

Photographic call for submissions "street": street : avenue, pedestrian, lane, road, trail, passerby, spectator, boulevard, stroller, highway, thoroughfare, passage, jaywalker, pavement, road … Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "street" to A Smith Gallery by May 21, 2018. The entry fee is $35 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image. Fifty to fifty five images will be selected by juror Harvey Stein for exhibition July 6 to August 19, 2018.

Photographic call for submissions "black/white": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "black/white" to A Smith Gallery by November 27, 2018. Juror for "black/white" will be Jennifer Schlesinger, artist and owner/director Obscura Gallery in Santa Fe.

Photographic call for submissions "diptych": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "diptych" to A Smith Gallery by December 3, 2018. Juror for "diptych" will be gallery director of A Smith Gallery, Kevin Tully.

Photographic call for submissions "she": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "she" to A Smith Gallery by January 7, 2019 for exhibition in the gallery from February 22 to April 7, 2019. Juror for "she" will be Joyce Tenneson.

Photographic call for submissions "art+science": Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work reflecting the theme "art+science" to A Smith Gallery by January 28, 2019. Juror for "art+science" will be Linda Alterwitz, artist and photographer.
