The Chateau Gallery
United StatesAbout
The Chateau Gallery (TCG) is a contemporary hybrid art and studio space based in the heart of historic Old Louisville. Throughout its many lives, the monolithic building served as the estate of a tobacco baron, a funeral parlor, The Kentucky College of Barbering, an unlicensed childcare center, a "cocaine dealer's palace," and a law office. TCG is an avant-garde colossus of brick, mortar, wooden beams, and traditional white gallery walls — occupying a time and place between the antique and the contemporary. TCG's ethos is to transcend borders and broadcast multi-faceted viewpoints through artistic, ideological, and philosophical exchange.

Still II: An Elaboration on the Inanimate:
The Chateau Gallery’s second annual still life exhibition. From ancient Greco-Roman artworks to Dutch vanitas paintings, the still life has permeated art history for ages. Show us your most inimitable or transformative scenes of inanimate objects. What contemporary elaborations do you add to this lasting genre of imagery? Between wilting flowers and bowls of oranges, what do you bring to the table?

A narrative can tell stories about a wide range of subjects, recount tales from religion, myth, legend, history, and literature, or examine existential questions, such as the meaning of life, death, and the nature of reality. A well-crafted narrative can transport us to another time and place, entertain, educate, and inspire or help us to view the world in a new way...

Call For Photography: The Surreal:
Surrealism is an artistic exploration of the human psyche, dreams, and the unconscious mind. Through bizarre and fantastical scenes, juxtaposition, or symbolism, we challenge you to capture and present images that defy logic and question the boundary of perception. Invite us to a realm where the conscious and unconscious blur and reality transform into the surreal.

Call For Photography: The Beauty in Decay:
Beauty is subjective in the eye of the viewer. Societal conventions pressure us to conform to like-mindedness, yet the most ethereal craft often originates from divergent work that transgresses tradition.
